/That dude is so mysterious... I see him sometimes hanging by his locker and then sometimes I wouldn't see him for like a week... He's the reason I come to school... And he's not even here half the time... I hate him but I really like him... A lot like... I don't think he knows I exist though.../
"Hey Demyx, whats up?"
"Oh hi Roxas... Whats up?"
Roxas raised his eyebrow a little.
"You high or something dude? You seem a little out of it..."
"No no I'm fine..."
Roxas looked down the hallway and caught eyes with the person Demyx seemed to be staring at.
"Axel eh?"
The redhead seemed to raise his head a little at the sound of his name.
"Shhhh!"
Axel walked by and nodded his head at Roxas which the blonde boy returned, once he was out of sight Demyx and Roxas started walking to class.
"Stupid English test, I haven't studied for it..."
The mohawked boy shifted from foot to foot.
"Oh yeah? It shouldn't be too bad... So Axel was that guys name?"
"Yeah, hes in our year, he doesn't be in much... What do you reckon will be on the test?"
Demyx was staring at his trainers lost in thoughts of Axel.
"Erm... Probably Romeo and Juliet... Are we still on that?"
Roxas shrugged a little.
"I think so... Not 100% though, you always pay such close attention in class."
He was snapped back to reality by Roxas waving his hand in front of his face.
"Dem?"
He ripped his eyes from the window that Axel had just walked by and brought them back to look into Roxas' eyes.
"Sorry... I usually read the books before we ever touch em in class... Thats why I'm not totally sure what we're on, I tend to kinda zone out..."
Roxas suitably pleased with explanation pressed harder into the other issue.
"So whats got you all wistful? You seem kinda out of it..."
Demyx ran a hand through his mohawk.
"Loads of stuff... Just feeling a little run down lately mainly."
Roxas was not completely convinced but decided to leave it for the moment.
"Well you know if you need to talk or whatever..."
"I know..."
"Shit I gotta get to maths class! See ya later!"
"Bye..."

Once Roxas was out of sight Demyx walked back to the window he had been staring out of and there he was, sitting on a bench under one of the shelters, he had his hood up like he did most of the time, when he took it down it had a weirdly dramatic effect on him.
His hair was bright red and spiked it stuck out from his head like a porcupine when he pulled his hood down.
Axel was in a word unique...
Even his eyes shone out acid green from the blackness the hoods sometimes threw down over his face, he had two tattoos that Demyx knew of, two upturned triangles under his eyes.
He also wore eyeliner which made his eyes that much more alluring and seemed to add to his mystery.

His mind clouded full of thoughts he stepped out into the rain and started to walk over towards where Axel was sitting, there were closer places to sit that were sheltered...
But his feet were not currently under his control and before he knew what he was doing he was a few feet away from Axel who had a cigarette lifted to his lips ready to light but stopped promptly seeing he was not alone anymore.
Demyx sat a little bit away from him and didn't speak for a moment, when he had an idea.
"Uhm..."
Axel raised his head a little and shifted his gaze to Demyx.
"Any chance I could bum a cigarette?"
Nodding he reached into his jacket and pulled the box back out.
"Theres one left in there."
He surrendered the cigarette box which Demyx took gingerly in his fingers before pulling the cigarette out and resting it between his lips, he didn't want to ask for a lighter...
But he knew he didn't have one...
"Uh, do you need a light?"
Blushing Demyx reached out and took the lighter and lit the cigarette with some effort and inhaled lightly.
"Thanks..."
"No problem..."
He took another short drag of the cigarette and stifling a cough decided to try have some balls and strike up some conversation.
"... The weathers really shit today..."
He seemed to shrug and took a long drag from his cigarette.
"I like the rain..."
Demyx watched as the smoke escaped his mouth and nose, his bright green eyes gleaming from under the dark hood...
Axel threw his cigarette into the now wet grass and stood up.
"See you around...?"
He made a motion as if asking his name.
"Demyx, my name is Demyx..."
He answered a little too quickly and mentally kicked himself for coming off as desperate.
"I'm Axel... Commit it to memory..."
And as quickly as he had been there he was walking off again leaving Demyx looking after him in awe...
/I really should take up smoking.../
Demyx watched absent mindedly dragging too long on the cigarette and causing himself a coughing fit.
/Maybe not.../

He seemed to drift through the rest of the day, rather pleased that he'd gone up and talked to Axel...
His mind drifted to if he meant the 'see you around' that he'd said...
/I wonder if he meant it? Like maybe its not so ridiculious that I went up and talked to him... Stop thinking right now... He probably has a girlfriend, he probably has a life and friends and tonnes of stuff you don't have a clue about it... He probably didn't think twice about you... So forget about it./
While mentally arguing with himself he found his desk overshadowed by Roxas.
"Dude... Dude? Dude!"
Demyx snapped out of it.
"Uh... Yeah?"
"Class is over man... I think you might want to go see the nurse or something... Come on, I'll drop you home..."

Demyx was quiet for the drive home but Roxas didn't seem to notice.
"So I've started going out with this girl Namine, shes really cute. Has a really cute friend too... Think her name is Kiara, Kairi... Something like that... But I could probably get you in there if you wanted?"
"Um... No I think I'm good... Thanks for the offer though..."
Roxas pulled the car over outside Demyx's house and leaned over towards him.
"Dude are you sure you're okay? I mean you're usually so happy... You just seem... Not yourself, like you're on a bit of a downer or something... Whats up?"
The blonde mohawked boy seemed to consider this for a moment.
"Well... Uh... Theres..."
Before he could say what was on his mind Demyx's mother was standing at the door of the house waving him in.
"I suppose I better go in..."
Roxas looked at him like he wanted him to go on but instead nodded.
"Call me later dude ok?"
Demyx nodded and waved as he closed the car door and walked up the driveway to the front door of his house.
"How was school honey?"
"It was okay..."
"Just okay?"
"Yeah had a few tests and stuff... I'm a bit tired... I'm just gonna head up to bed for a bit... Ok?"
His mother nodded but her concern was clear, he'd been acting weird since the start of the new school year and she wanted to know what was wrong, but knew he'd tell if he wanted and that she shouldn't pry.
Demyx went up to his room and lay on his bed, something pressed into his stomach and when he reached into his hoody pocket to see what it was he found the cigarette packet from earlier...
He rolled over onto his back and held it up rotating it to examine it, he flipped open the lid of the box smelled it, it smelled of tabacco but also something else sweeter he couldn't quite put his finger on...
While deep in thought staring at his cigarette box his cell phone started ringing and made him drop the box.
He picked it up and answered immediately.

"Hello?"
"Hey Demyx, its Roxas..."
"Oh hey, whats up?"
"Nothing much... Uhm you kinda seemed like you wanted to say something earlier..."
Demyx sighed deeply into the phone.
"It wasn't anything important."
"You sure? You looked really troubled all the way home..."
"Yeah I'm sure... It's nothing..."
"I'm not so sure keeping things to yourself is healthy dude, even if its something you think is nothing, somethings troubling you..."
"..."
"Come on Demyx, who am I gonna tell?"
"...I dunno dude... It's kinda... Weird..."
"Just get it out you'll live longer!"
"Well... I think..."
"Yeah?"
"I think... I might be..."
"Pregnant? Have AIDS? Fail your exams? Gay?"
"The last one..."
"Ha ha ha! Yeah right Demyx good one! Whats really wrong?"
"I think I might be gay."
The line went very silent for a long time.
"Uhm... I gotta go I promised Namine I'd call her..."
"Okay."
"Bye."
The phone went dead in his hand, something in his stomach told him that Roxas would probably never talk to him again...
/I knew I shouldn't have told him.../
Demyx lay back on his bed again sighing at the white ceiling...
/Tomorrows another long, long day.../
